News From The Stoneygate School Association
NEWS FROM THE STONEYGATE SCHOOL ASSOCIATION ("SSA")
The discos for the nursery, pre-prep and years 3 & 4 took place in October. The children all seemed to enjoy themselves and thank you to the parents who helped with the catering and supervising the children.
The 100 Club raises money to fund the Gardening Club, with half of the funds being invested in the Gardening Club and the other half being paid out as prizes in the form of book tokens. The winners of the September and October draws were announced last term and the November draw will take place this week.
We are desperately in need of someone to run the Gardening Club this year. The time required is minimal and the children love to be involved with planting and growing the flowers and vegetables. Please either let Mr Morris know if you are interested or email us at SSA@stoneygateschool.co.uk.
Following a successful "photo" shoot of the pre-prep in the last academic year, years 4 & 5 are being photographed this term.
The latest edition of the Address Book will soon be available. Details of the new starters and any changes notified to the office are being input. If any of your personal details have changed, please notify the office for them to be included in the 2010/2011 publication.
Plans on the activity trail for the Upper School are being worked on and it is hoped that some progress will be made by the end of term.
Children in Need takes place on Friday 19 November 2010. For a small contribution, children will be allowed to dress down on that day and also bring in their teddy.
As with last year, we will be selling refreshments in the School Hall before the pre-prep Christmas concerts.
We are already starting to plan the PROM for the Summer Term for years 6, 7 and 8. If you have any ideas or would like to be involved at any stage, please could you let us know by emailing SSA@stoneygateschool.co.uk.
Watch this space for the ideal Christmas present for parents and grandparents of the pre-school and pre-prep children - a Stoneygate School Tea Towel. These are currently being designed and should be available to order by the end of November.
Other fundraising ideas include a quiz for the parents and a coffee morning with stalls selling a variety of lines.
Finally, the SSA is operating this year without a Chairperson. If you are willing to get involved and help to run the SSA, please either contact Mr Morris or email us. If you have any fundraising ideas or anything you would like the Association to address regarding any issues in the School, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Our next meeting is set for Monday 15 November at 8.30 am in the New School Foyer. All parents are welcome.
