Remembering the Fallen
This term our pupils have been remembering the centenary of World War One in many ways. Four soldiers have been created and will form part of a display remembering the 83 fallen soldiers whose families lived in Oadby. We are remembering those Fallen soldiers from Great Glen with each pupil decorating a poppy with a personal message - now on display at the War Memorial in St Cuthbert's Church. Each class was also given a project 'Remembering the 51' (former pupils who lost their lives) and displays are now up in our School Hall.
We have been selling poppies this week and tomorrow two of our Senior pupils will be holding a breaktime cake sale with proceeds going to the Poppy Appeal.
Tomorrow will be a more sombre affair as we hold a service for our pupils in Year 3 upwards. While it is important to acknowledge and remember all soldiers and civilians who lost their lives in all wars, this year we have specifically focussed on the many former Stoneygate pupils that were tragically lost in the Great War.
