Stoneygate offers the potential of a continual learning experience from Reception to GCSE level, however, we welcome applications from children into any of our Years.
The school is fully co-educational and admission is open to all who meet our entry requirements, regardless of gender, race, religious, socio-economic or cultural background.
Entry at the earliest point is to our Reception class for boys and girls in the academic year following their fourth birthday. Children for entry at this level are assessed by staff in the February prior to admission in September. Those children wishing to join the School in later years are asked to sit an assessment and undertake an interview with the Headmaster that is appropriate for their age. Special aptitudes in sport, music and other fields are taken into account when deciding whether to offer a place.
The school caters for a wide range of abilities. Children are screened on entry to ensure that the needs of all children can be catered for by the expertise available on the teaching staff.
If pupils choose to move on they are well prepared for entry to another school at the ages of 11 and 13 but the opportunity to remain and study to GCSE level is available to all children. At the end of Year 8, some of our pupils choose to move on to other senior schools and we take pride in successfully preparing for the Common Entrance Exam for those who wish to do so. Destinations include Leicester Grammar School, Uppingham, Rugby and Oundle.
