Other Sports at Stoneygate
All major disciplines of athletics are taught at school and also at the local university athletics track. We take advantage of our large school playing fields to hold local competitions against other schools. The senior school take part in the annual South Leicestershire Schools Area Championships and children can progress by this route to the Leicestershire County Championships.
Stoneygate's Sports Day takes place at the university athletics track with inter-league, competitive track and field events.
Tennis lessons are given all the year round (weather permitting) on the school's own tennis courts, during break times, in organised games afternoons and in after school activities. Children start at year 3 with coaching by professional coaches from nearby clubs. Fixtures against other schools are played during the summer Term.
Stoneygate has recently established a measured mile-long cross country course around the school grounds, fully marked out with flags. Fixtures against other schools are organised during the Spring term. Children of all ages take part as an element of their fitness regime during their regular games afternoons.
